Paint The Hall Orange Panorama.
In the 2001 basketball season local radio station, Mix 94.5 WLRW, started a promotion encouraging all Illini fans attending the Michigan State game to wear orange and to "Paint the Hall Orange". This was a very successful promotion and many of the people attending the game did wear orange as you can see from the photo. This game was a big conference game, but in addition to that it was a game of national significance. Michigan State was the defending NCAA National Champions and was currently ranked number 4 in the nation. Illinois was ranked number 6 in the nation and as a result, this game affected the national polls the following week. This was one of the most exciting games ever played at the Assembly Hall, and the Illini won. This photo quickly became our best selling photo. Both sports casts did a story about the photo the night after the game and people started calling and coming in and buying the photo faster than we could get them framed up. SP_CBB_004
